Who is our leadership?
Welcome to the CCA community! I'm Miranda Baldosky, the proud Board President of Canyon Community Alliance, and I'd like to share a bit about my journey and commitment to Valle.

Having spent my entire life under Valle's expansive skies and amidst its wide-open ranges, this land holds a special place in my heart. After a brief venture to Flagstaff, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Parks and Recreation Management at NAU, my path led me to explore different corners of the world. Yet, no matter where I went, Valle called me back home.

Returning with a newfound passion for community service, I set my sights on creating systems of support for sustainable off-grid, rural living. Valle, with its unique charm and close-knit community, became the perfect canvas for these aspirations. It was this dedication that led me to pursue and obtain my real estate license, allowing me to contribute to the growth and well-being of the Valle community in a meaningful way.

As a founder of CCA, I am committed to fostering a community that thrives sustainably and embraces the principles of off-grid living. Through our collaborative efforts, we can create lasting systems of support and make Valle an even better place to call home.

I am honored to serve as your Board President and look forward to working together to build a brighter future for Valle.
I am Thad Johnson, a Board member of Canyon Community Alliance. My wife and I have been living off-grid along Cataract Canyon about 10 miles south of Valle for most of the last 20 years. Over that time, I’ve experienced mixed and sometimes colliding community worldviews and development that don’t always protect our dark skies, scarce water supply, fragile environment, diverse wildlife, or desired rural lifestyle. In addition, the rising cost of living in the region can make it difficult for people to live with food security and comfortable, affordable shelter.
My background includes careers in manufacturing, software development, project management, and sustainable residential architectural design (mostly off-grid). I’ve participated in the Coconino County Sustainable Building Program since 2006, was part of the team that produced the Sustainable Living Fair in Flagstaff in the late 2000s, and worked with the County on various building code addendums and comprehensive plan updates. I joined the Canyon Community Alliance because I’m passionate about its mission “…to provide education, resources, and opportunities for the community to improve their quality of life while building a sustainable environment.” I believe that to do that we need to listen to community voices and rely on community involvement to foster the culture and drive the priorities, services, and programs we want for the future.
As a board member, I welcome everyone’s input to ensure the Alliance’s goals and resulting board actions reflect the entire community. Sometimes we’ll agree and sometimes we won’t, but at the end of the day, we’re neighbors all the time.
I am delighted to introduce myself as Ben Holladay, your Board Treasurer at CCA. My journey to Valle began three years ago, following my honorable discharge from the military. Intrigued by the potential for personal growth and well-being, I initially arrived with aspirations to elevate awareness through my health and wellness business, On Your Mark Worldwide.

However, upon immersing myself in the Valle community, I recognized the pressing local needs that could be addressed through a collective effort. This realization led me to shift my focus and collaborate with Miranda in establishing CCA, a venture dedicated to serving the community and promoting sustainable living.

In addition to my community service, I have completed my undergraduate degree in psychology, with ambitions to get a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. This academic pursuit complements my passion for understanding human behavior and contributes to my commitment to personal and community well-being.

As a founder & board treasurer, I am excited to bring my skills and dedication to the financial management of CCA, ensuring that our collective efforts make a lasting impact. Let's work together to foster a community that thrives both individually and collectively.
"There is no power for change greater than a community discovering what it cares about."
