5/30 - Building Your Soil w/o Breaking the Bank. If you live in Northern Arizona, you’ve got clay – and lots of it! Whether you’re growing in the ground or in raised beds, your soil needs some TLC. But bagged soil is expensive and often doesn’t have what your soil really needs. Come learn how to assess your soils needs and about what different amendments can do to meet those needs. Learn how to create your own amendments and get info on local inexpensive resources.
6/13 - Growing Food from Seeds How can any grower resist a seedling sale at a local nursery??? But did you know, that many commercially available vegetable starts, especially from big box stores, are not grown in our climate? Not only can they whither in our bright sun, they suffer in the wind, and might even bring unwanted pests to your garden. And they’re expensive! In this workshop, you’ll learn how to choose seeds for Valle’s climate, when and how to start seeds, and how to plant your plant babies for optimal success.
