Postal Services (Cluster Boxes)
The CCA Cluster Box project is a volunteer-led initiative to facilitate mail delivery to Valle and surrounding areas.
The CCA Cluster Box Unit (CBU) installation and administration project is a volunteer-driven effort to improve mail and package delivery services to the Valle community and surrounding area residents.
Our current thinking is to install CBUs with 16 mailboxes, two package boxes, and an outgoing mail slot. The CBUs will be installed across from the CCA Micro-farm.
Anselm Bossacoma (thanks Anselm!) will work with the CCA Board and US Post Master in Williams to determine the requirements for installing and maintaining the CBUs, put together a budget, and publish an on-line survey to determine how many people are interested in leasing a mailbox. Once we know that, we'll be able to purchase and install the CBUs; we will probably start with one or two CBUs and expand as required.
Once the CBUs are installed, we'll need a volunteer to assign mailboxes, provide keys, and be our liaison with the Williams US Post Office to communicate addresses associated with different mailboxes. If you're interested in volunteering to support this important administrative effort, please email us at volunteer@canyoncommunityalliance.org. The role will probably require a few hours a week initially, and wind down to a few hours a month after the initial rush of mailbox assignments.
